From the President, 2008-02

Dear Members,

I would like to extend a special thanks to Shirley Hinton who was instrumental in putting together our combined luncheon meeting with the CPCU society. Attorney General Thurbert Baker and Commissioner John Oxendine did a wonderful job on giving their insight as to leadership. They reminded us that we all have a say in government and they can only keep moving in the right direction with our input. They encouraged all of us to keep them informed so that changes can continue. You really missed out if you were not in attendance.

Our nominating committee, chaired by immediate past President Diana Roe Hollis, recommended an excellent slate of new officers and directors for the 2008-2009 year. They were voted on and approved by the membership during the January meeting. Please join me in congratulating and welcoming PresidentElect Tom Santamorena as well as the other officers and directors elected for the upcoming year.

Remember if you are interested in serving on a particular committee, this is the time to become involved. We need everyone's help in accomplishing our goals. Please feel free to contact Tom Santamorena to let him know what committee you would like to become involved in. Committee rosters are still in the process of being finalized. This is the time to let us put you to work (of course in a good way).

Please remember to register for the upcoming Workers' Compensation seminar on February 21, 2008. The seminar will be held at the Magianno's located at Perimeter Mall. Registration begins at 11:30, lunch to begin at noon. Our special guest speaker is the Honorable Carolyn Hall, Chair, SBWC, along with a line up of excellent speakers. This seminar has been approved for 3 Credit Hours for Georgia Adjusters as well as Attorney CLE. The cost for the seminar including lunch is $30 for members and $40 for non-members. The educational committee led by Ginger Ewerth has done a wonderful job in putting this seminar together. If you are interested in sponsorship please feel free to contact Ginger at 770-339-7672.

The convention has been finalized. Please come and join us in a Salute to Claims Professionals. This event is for you and our sponsors. Please remember to take advantage of the continuing education offered as well as join us for a fun-filled evening at our annual banquet. Please join us in welcoming our newly elected officers as well as to honor our scholarship recipients. This is a great time for all. Please remember this event is open to everyone. Please invite your friends, family and co-workers. I promise you will not be sorry.

I look forward to seeing everyone at the upcoming Workers' Compensation Seminar. Please remember there will not be a regular monthly meeting.

In fellowship,
Sherrie Newton
