HAPPY NEW YEAR!!
Another year has passed and we have a blank canvas
before us as we begin 2010. I really know what the
"old folks" meant now when they said that time passes
faster as the years roll along. It seems like yesterday
that I was contemplating what 2009 had in store for my journey through life
and now 2009 has passed. Did you fulfill your resolutions from 2009 or did
you do as is so common, recommit for 2010? Whatever the answer, it is good
that we are always striving to improve ourselves and the world around. That
is exactly what your association is doing and will do in the future, strive to
improve. Among those initiatives is migrating to an electronic version of
this publication. If you did not provide us with an email address preference
when you renewed your membership, we need it! Please drop a line to

I sincerely want to thank all of you who donated canned goods and toys to
help with our annual charitable drive for the December luncheon. You can
rest assured you made a difference in someone's life. Robin Weidman and
her luncheon committee did an outstanding job working with Kerri Crosby
and her Speaker's Committee to put on such a wonderful luncheon. The
food was great. Special thanks to Greg Presmanes who provided musical
back-up to a struggling group of singers comprised of your board of
directors. We all enjoyed the entertainment afterward much more than the
struggling singers. Out of concern for everyone, I personally "lip synched"
my way through all the songs to spare you all my pitiful voice. If it is good
enough for Britney Spears, it is good enough for me.
January is our annual joint meeting with the CPCU Society at Villa Christina.
What better way to expand your contacts than to meet with another industry
organization? Many of these folks are underwriters, so you had better be
careful when you joke that the industry would be better if underwriters
would not put lousy business on the books! Seriously, it is a good way for
us to broaden our professional lives and seek another perspective on our
professional world. I hope to see you there. We also vote on the new board
of directors for 2010/2011, so be prepared to spend a few minutes at the end
of the usual program to cast your vote as a member of ACA.
Have you ever thought being in claims was a thankless job? Well, there
is a way to recognize excellent claims folks. The ACA anoints one person
each year as the Claims Person of the Year. Please take a few minutes to
study the requirements in this edition and provide the committee with a
recommendation. The recipient will be included in a very special group and
will be among a select few individuals. What better way to recognize those
among us who really stand out?
I hope to see you all on January 12th for the luncheon and again at the
seminar in February. Let's make 2010 a banner year for ACA!
Sincerely,
Russ Musgrove
President 2009/2010
